I just can't NOT write about Monticello in the spring!
We'd visited twice before- in the dead heat of summer and the rainy chill of winter. This time, we dropped in just in time to see the gardens, orchards and vineyards in all of their glory.
I'm such a novice at gardening that the sight of these perfectly plowed and bursting beds and terraces took my breath away and left my heart fluttering. Can you imagine conceiving of and producing something so magnificent?!. Thomas Jefferson was brilliant. A little background on the design and maintenance of his gardens amazed me.

we lived in c'ville for 4 yrs. Visited Monticello often and my favorite part has always been the gardens. so beautiful, such ingenuity, sweetly inspiring. Weeping willows on the way to the family cementary and experiments in the vegetable garden. I love it all.
